Long Time Doing X-Ray Oh geez, I'm sitting here running x-ray, and I finally thought I was done, but then when I compared my data to what I've taken previously I thought that really I should run again. Another 7 minutes to go or so. This is a bit monotonous. But, I have no reason to complain because my low angle data looks fucking awesome. There is even a second order peak on the calcined samples, and while I realize that means nothing to you, trust me when I say that is fucking awesome. I'm just impatient. And I'm hungry. I tried to go buy a sandwich from the school coffee shop earlier, because they are pretty good and I am craving a sandwich, but they were closed due to spring break. Why is it that all of us hard working grad students get ignored? We have coffee and food needs, too, dammit! My crafty husband built a loft for our oldest daughter over the weekend. It is very nice and doesn't overpower their small room, either. He is going to add on a slide, too. Hey, I know, I should take a picture of it to show it off here. I'm just a big slacker when it comes to the whole photo thing though. I don't want to be. I love the idea of having organized photo albums/websites/slideshows/DVDs to send to family of all of our times as a family. I think that would be great to look on in later years. A visual journal, if you will. But where is the time to do something like that? And also, I would need to somehow develop the ability to take good photos. I have a great camera, but no skill. My guy bought Digital Photography for Dummies, and while I will never admit to being a dummy (due to fear of actually being one), I will say that this book has a lot of great help for Photoshop. I want to keep it just for that. But when will I read and put it to use? Oh, one of these days. Let me check on my data. Ah, a big fat nothing where a peak should be. When I ran this sample before, I ran a really long time, but got an extremely broad peak compared to an old film. So, I ran the sample again using the same parameters (almost) as the old film, but alas, no peak. I suppose I could run it again changing the one little thing left that is different between the two runs, but geez I don't think it will make a difference. The important thing is that the sample is most definitely in prime condition to get me some good future data. Anyway, what was I talking about? Oh yeah, I was saying that just because I update on the weekend does not make me a dork, Dukkha. So there. The so there might qualify me though, but I won't erase it. I know I'm a dork. Well, the run is finished, so I'd best be going. There was one more thing I wanted to say though, what was it? Oh yeah, I'm working on a new knitting project. This one is a swimsuit. Let's see if I can find a link to it. Nope. For as much product as Target carries on their website, I can't find what I just bought day before yesterday. Anyway, it's a kit for knitting a swimsuit. $15, which isn't too bad. Cheaper than a swimsuit, and I have seen very few patterns out there. So I was glad to have one fall in my lap, so to speak. I started on the gauge swatch today. |
