sexyatheist's Halloween Party I'm really frustrated. I had to switch the computer that was on my desk at work for a different one, and now, after I have spent an hour or two moving the computers, setting up my user account, changing my desktop settings, adding my bookmarks for journal searches and the like to Firefox, I realize that the sound card is fucked up. I installed iTunes, but the songs wouldn't play. I tried uninstalling, then reinstalling, to no avail. Then I went to launch.yahoo.com to see if it was iTunes or my computer, and launch didn't work either. Okay, so then I started looking at the device manager, and sure enough, there is something wrong. Either there is something wrong with the sound card itself, or there are no drivers installed. I can't tell which. The computer doesn't seem to recognize the sound card, because its icon is just a big question mark, and its name is Media Audio Controller. That's a brand name for ya. Fuck. I just wanted to hear a little music while I tried to kick my ass in gear. For some reason I just really don't want to do this experiment that my boss wants me to do. I think that it is a waste of time. It really won't take too long, I don't think, just a couple of hours at the most. So why don't I do it? I don't know. I'm all into dark red lipstick and black eyeliner/eyeshadow. Sultry, baby. I went to sexyatheist's Halloween party. I brought my husband and two of my friends from school. This party was about 40 minutes from my house, yet we met a guy there who knows someone who is in my friend's lab. Small world, isn't it? So, Lizz's dad is very much into Halloween, so the house was completely decked out. I couldn't imagine a better setup. There were coffins, severed body parts, including heads, cobwebs, creapy movies on the TV, a large graveyard in the front yard, a jail cell with a skeleton in it in the breakfast nook, and rice krispie treats that hiphopdancer made. I ate too many of those, but I won't confess how many! There were a lot of high school/younger kids there, because Lizz has younger siblings. I knew that she was younger than I am, and so I expected mostly young twentysomethings. The high school kids were very unexpected, but it was cool. There was this one guy who had a bagel in his pocket, as he was Jeff Spicoli. He was a junior in high school, and he was really cool. He'll be even better in about five years! We had a good time. My only regret is that I didn't talk to Lizz more. I think that I felt strange because I've read so much more of her diary than she has read of mine, so things were lopsided. I'm not sure. We should have talked about sex, since I wrote her a note months and months ago saying we should get together and do that, since she had an entry talking about it, but we never did. This was our opportunity, and I didn't take it! Hopefully I'll get another chance. I really like meeting people from online. It is so new and exciting. It feels like an adventure. You never know what you are going to get. Yes, you read their diaries, but what are they really like in real life? Neither sexyatheist or ionme looked like I had imagined them in my mind, for one thing. When I read someone I "hear" their voice in my head, and there is an image that is formed of what they look like, influenced by their descriptions. After I meet someone, I've heard their real voice and seen them, so when I read their diaries after, there is a sort of melding that occurs that is a combination of old and new, or something different altogether. In the case of acornotravez, I've known her for way longer than she's had a diary, and so I always hear her voice when I read her entries. So when she recently said someone could suck her left titty, I laughed out loud, because I know just how she would say it! |
